Defending the Fatherless began in the spring of 2011 as a ministry of Calvary Chapel Nexus. It is a ministry that began as a way for the body of Christ to support families on the journey through adoption and foster care.  Now encompassing ministries from churches throughout Ventura County we serve as a gathering place to support and equip families all over Ventura County from Thousand Oaks to Ojai.

We desire to see orphan care expand within the church body. We work with a coalition of churches, organizations and individuals within Ventura County to best meet the growing needs in our community.  We believe that every church and believer has a unique role in supporting the fatherless within Ventura County. Our vision is to connect families and individuals who share the common bond of adoption foster care and a heart for the most vulnerable children in our society. The adoption and foster care journey is an emotional and multi-faceted one.  We believe that adoption and foster care is Biblical and essential, and we desire to see these families and their children embraced and encouraged. Go to "upcoming events" to find ways to connect.

We believe that this ministry can be uniquely effective in helping families process their decision to adopt and offer support to them as they walk the journey of adoption. We realize that not everyone is called to adopt, but we want to encourage those who are interested in the process, and provide resources to assist them in navigating the journey.  However we do operate under the premise that there are many ways to be involved in orphan care and to support those who are adopting.
